We hope your 2023 is off to an incredible start and that it doesn’t seem to be moving quite as quickly as ours does! Insha’Allah, this is a momentous year for DREAM, as it marks a decade of us working together on the Westside of Detroit, combining community organizing with housing and economic development to revitalize our neighborhood and build a thriving community.
To kick off the year, we want to share with you our latest publication, the 2022 Impact Report: Looking Back at Our Early Years.
More than a standard annual report, this is a look back at our entire path up to this point—a chronicle of the sincere efforts and accomplishments of folks who banded together as volunteers to make a difference in a neighborhood we all deeply care about. Additionally, it narrates the journey of folks with a set of shared values that we’re living out every day. These values are now the foundation of a real community development organization growing in professionalism, expertise, and impact.
These pages are full of success stories, which wouldn’t be possible without the amazing community—including the volunteers, donors, board members, and now, staff—that have poured countless hours and prayers into this organization.
The Impact Report also highlights our timeline, the problem we’re addressing, our approach to solving it, our latest projects, and ways to get involved. We acknowledge our media, partners, and funders. Moreover, we express gratitude to all of our supporters. As you read this, you’re probably already tuned into our work. Nevertheless, we hope that reviewing this document gives you new insights and renewed inspiration for what we can accomplish together going forward.
I want to personally thank each and every one of you for your time, commitment, dedication, and support over the past ten years. There’s plenty of work ahead of us, but the 2022 Impact Report: Looking Back at Our Early Years is a testament to how close we’ve come to realizing our DREAM together.
