Storytelling is an essential part of community organizing.

As an organizer or a community leader, being able to tell your own story of motivation, the story of your community, and why action is needed in this particular moment, is an essential part of moving people to action.

We teach and practice these skills in DREAM’s Community Organizing Workshops and Trainings, which have been attended by participants from all over metro Detroit. And one of our organizing trainers, and board members, is Sister Hazel Gómez.

Sr. Hazel reflects on the importance of storytelling in the Muslim tradition in this beautiful video produced by our friends at Ta’leef Collective.

Take a listen to the short video and share today.
