This is program is designed for youth between the ages of 16 to 21 to work closely with DREAM’s core leaders to drive forward essential projects over a nine-week period.

As an intern, you’ll get exposure to the community development landscape in Detroit, visit city landmarks, meet with prominent community members, and be mentored by successful young professionals. You’ll also receive a modest stipend for your time and commitment, and will qualify for community service hours. Upon completion of the internship, you’ll receive a formal recognition and be eligible for letters of recommendation as needed.

The responsibilities of the Summer Interns will include (but may not be limited to):

• Host, with the support of our Community Organizing Team, community engagement events and volunteer meetings in July and August
• Help put on the 2019 Dream of Detroit Street Fair
• Create and execute a youth engagement plan
• Produce compelling video and photo content for DREAM’s website and social media
• Lead production and distribution of promotional materials for major summer and fall events
• Create press releases and other media outreach materials
• Light neighborhood maintenance (lawn mowing, trash pickup, etc.)

Timeline for the internship:

• March 1- Application period opens
  We will review applications and interview candidates on a rolling basis
• May 30 – Deadline application
• June 15 – Internship officially begins
• August 26 – Internship officially ends
