On behalf of our Dream of Detroit team, we want to wish you a blessed month of Ramadan.
Now that the pandemic has subsided, this will be the busiest month in years at the Muslim Center, where DREAM currently has an office. We’ve got a team working in person everyday and community members here every evening. We might be a little tired from fasting, but the energy is UP! This is really a time of renewal and community.
Today, as part of our outreach for Project Homecoming, we’re mailing dates to Muslim inmates in the Michigan Department of Corrections. It’s the least we can do to help brothers enjoy their Ramadan, while letting them know that, as they come home, they’re welcome in our community and DREAM’s Project Homecoming is a resource for them.
We’re also excited this month to be seeking support for our next office—The DREAM Center. This new location will give us a chance to have an office right on our “main street” for the public to visit, a digital lab, a pop-up space, and an outdoor courtyard for the neighborhood. It’ll truly be a sign of renewal and a brand new space to keep building community.
