We have a historic opportunity to speak up for property tax justice this morning! Thanks to the courage of five City Council members last Tuesday, the ordinance our Coalition for Property Tax Justice has worked on for two years is finally up for a vote in City Council. If the City Council votes yes, then we will have an opportunity to win property tax justice in 2024. If the City Council votes no, then we’ll have to wait until 2025 for the Ordinance to be implemented.
It’s time to end the indignity of our neighbors being overcharged on their taxes and then having their homes snatched from them.
Can we count on you to give public comment this morning at 10am on zoom?

Our ordinance will:
- Extend the amount of time residents have to appeal from 14 to 30 days.
- Drastically improve assessment notices.
- Require the Board of Review to provide homeowners with reasons why their appeal was granted or denied.
- Require release of all assessment data by Feb 1st, making appeals more informed by data.
- Create an independent review board to monitor and stop over assessments.
