2025 Impact Report

Rooted in Community. Building What Lasts.

In 2025, Dream of Detroit continued to do what we have done since our founding: remain rooted in people, place, and purpose—while steadily building toward a future where dignity, stability, and opportunity are not privileges, but guarantees.

This year marked a meaningful moment of maturation for our organization. What began more than a decade ago as a volunteer-led effort to rehabilitate a single home has grown into a comprehensive, neighborhood-scale strategy for affordable housing, community ownership, economic mobility, and cultural preservation on Detroit’s Westside.

Our work is not episodic. It is long-term. It is relational. And it is built to last.

The Work

Housing & Permanent Affordability

In 2025, we deepened our commitment to permanent affordability through the DREAM Community Land Trust. By separating land ownership from home ownership, we are protecting families from displacement and ensuring that affordability remains for generations—not just for today.

Every home restored is more than a building. It is stability. It is safety. It is the foundation from which families build their lives.

Economic Mobility & Entrepreneurship

We expanded programs that support local entrepreneurs and returning citizens, recognizing that economic dignity is central to neighborhood health. By investing in people—skills, ideas, and leadership—we are strengthening the local economy from within.

Seniors & Community Care

Our life-saving home repair and stabilization programs for seniors ensured that longtime residents could age in place with dignity. Preserving community means protecting the people who built it.

The DREAM Center

In 2025, we laid critical groundwork for the DREAM Center—a permanent physical home for our collective future. This space will serve as a hub for programming, organizing, learning, and celebration.

It represents our belief that strong neighborhoods require strong institutions rooted in place.
