Join us on Saturday, May 10, 2025, for the Motor City Makeover Volunteer Day with DREAM of Detroit and be part of an amazing day of action, community, and transformation.
Together, we’ll roll up our sleeves and turn out to help our beloved neighborhoods look their best. This is more than just cleaning up blocks; it’s about building relationships, strengthening bonds, and creating a beautiful space for everyone to enjoy.

This event is hosted by Dream of Detroit in partnership with the Dream Community Association, two organizations committed to revitalizing Detroit, one block, one home, one neighborhood at a time.
Whether you’ve been looking for a hands-on way to contribute to the community or a chance to meet amazing neighbors, this is the event for you.

What to Expect at Motor City Makeover
This isn’t your average cleanup day! Here are just a few things we’ll tackle together to beautify our neighborhood and make it better for everyone who calls it home:
- 🌿 Trimming overgrown branches
- ✂️ Cutting grass and overgrown vegetation
- 🌱 Weed wacking to tidy up public spaces
- 🗑️ Picking up litter and debris
All tools, gloves, and trash bags will be provided, so you don’t need to bring a thing (but you’re welcome to bring your own small hand tools if you vibe with your personal gear).
And don’t worry, we’ll keep you fueled up. Lunch will be provided for all volunteers!
What to Wear
Trust us, you’ll appreciate the wardrobe tips:
- Long-sleeved shirts
- Pants, socks, and closed-toe shoes or boots
- Comfortable clothes for a day of teamwork and action
Pro tip: Dress for mess but leave room for pride when it’s all done!
Who Can Volunteer?
Everyone! We welcome all Detroit residents and community lovers who want to make a difference. Youth ages 10–15 can join too, but they’ll need an adult with them to help supervise.
Even if you’ve never volunteered for a cleanup, this is your chance to jump in. We’ll guide you every step of the way, and we promise it’s going to feel great to contribute.
