Here are some quick notes on how we’re reacting to the covid-19 crisis:
We’re in partnership with #MichiganMuslims for their grocery delivery service. Please sign up to volunteer or use this form to request a grocery delivery. You can also call the hotline at 734-210-0316.
In this “Wellbeing in the time of Coronavirus” toolkit from the Family & Youth Institute, you’ll find mental health resources written by professionals in the field, tips and tricks for working from home, relationship advice for the closer quarters you may be sharing with your loved ones, activities and things to do as a family at home while self-quarantining, as well as religious and spiritual resources.
Thanks to the work of water activists and advocates, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) announced a moratorium on water shut offs and the restoration of water service to Detroiters who have been cut off last month. If you sign up before April 9, you don’t have to put any money down. The State of Michigan will cover it for you. If you’re a Detroit resident living without water in your home or have received a notice of service interruption, call Wayne Metro at 313-386-9727 to make an appointment and sign up for DWSD’s Water Restart Plan.
Longtime DREAM volunteer leader Hajj Farooq has distributed several resources in the two Survival Workshops we’ve hosted in recent months. This particular sheet provides details for a well-stocked Emergency Supply Kit, beyond food provisions.
Join a District 5 Virtual Meeting through the City of Detroit Department of Neighborhoods. They’re every Friday at 5:30pm.
