$4,787.10 living allowance
+ $1,565.00 AmeriCorps Segal Education Award

With Cash Alternative
$5,101.10
$4,787.10 living allowance
+ $314.00 cash alternative

All positions are AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate roles administered through the Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC). Additional benefits may include healthcare coverage, childcare assistance, and other AmeriCorps member supports.

Community Engagement Associate

Get out into the neighborhood. This role is centered on direct resident outreach — canvassing door-to-door, conducting oral history interviews, supporting community events, and building DREAM’s presence across our community.

Objective 1 — Document the Neighborhood
  • Conduct door-to-door outreach, surveys, and oral history interviews
  • Track canvassing progress and compile findings for planning and reporting
  • Debrief regularly with staff on neighborhood themes and needs
Objective 2 — Support Community Programming
  • Help plan and run recurring community events
  • Conduct outreach and promotion via canvassing, flyers, and direct contact
  • Collect participant feedback and maintain an event planning calendar
Objective 3 — Strengthen Partner Relationships
  • Map local nonprofits, faith institutions, and community orgs in the area
  • Attend partner meetings and represent DREAM at community gatherings
  • Support neighborhood cleanup and beautification efforts

Communications & Storytelling Associate

Tell DREAM’s story. You’ll film and photograph our programs, write social media content, build a content library, and capture resident voices for use across channels, newsletters, and funder communications.

Objective 1 — Build a Content Library
  • Film and edit short-form video of DREAM programs and community work
  • Take photos at events and in the neighborhood
  • Write captions and post copy consistent with DREAM’s voice
  • Organize all content into a labeled shared folder
Objective 2 — Build Communication Systems
  • Create a content style guide any staff member can follow
  • Audit communication channels and recommend updates
  • Track which content types perform best
Objective 3 — Capture Resident Stories
  • Conduct interviews with residents, program participants, and volunteers
  • Turn stories into short pieces, quotes, or clips
  • Build an organized story archive for DREAM’s long-term use

Neighborhood Care & Outreach Associate

Objective 1 — Neighborhood Beautification
  • Coordinate cleanup efforts with DREAM Community Association and block clubs
  • Support beautification initiatives and flag safety concerns
  • Recruit and coordinate volunteers; document progress
Objective 2 — Outdoor Community Events
  • Support logistics, promotion, and day-of execution for outdoor events
  • Conduct door-to-door outreach to drive participation
  • Collect attendance data and resident feedback
Objective 3 — Neighborhood Sustainability Initiative (pilot)
  • Conduct outreach to eligible homeowners (50+ and low-income households)
  • Coordinate crew scheduling, supply logistics, and communications
  • Track participation and prepare a close-out summary

Organization & Program Systems Associate

Build the infrastructure behind the mission. You’ll reorganize our digital files, design onboarding guides, create tools for our housing programs, and capture institutional knowledge so DREAM can grow without losing what it knows.

  • Audit and reorganize shared digital files for easy staff access
  • Develop guides and update the internal wiki
  • Draft an onboarding guide for new staff; build volunteer contact lists
  • Interview staff to capture institutional knowledge
Objective 2 — Housing Program Support
  • Map the Project Homecoming process and design case management tools
  • Draft a welcome guide for Project Homecoming residents
  • Document the Timeless Touch-Ups program process
Objective 3 — Organizational Learning
  • Create reusable templates for reporting, agendas, and partner comms
  • Support an inbox-zero project for the general email account
  • Present all completed materials to staff at close of term
